MAC Mineralize Skinfinish- Soft and Gentle....Why i love it

I want to show you today a product from MAC Cosmetics. I have actually had this product all year and it was named as one of my favourite makeup products for 2010 . I am so in love with this product. I actually love all the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish shades.

These are not to be confused with MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural. The MAC MSF Natural formulation is not a highlighting powder. Instead it used to set liquid foundation or to be used on it's own as coverage. I like to use my MSF Natural over tinted moisturiser.

Anyway i just thought i'd clear that up as some people aren't aware there are two formulations. The shade above is called Soft and Gentle. I use this with my MAC 129 brush or my MAC 150 brush. I mostly use this on my cheek area. I lightly apply some blush on my cheeks and then use the MSF Soft and Gentle on the apples. I can't stop looking at my cheeks when i wear it!

It can also be used as an all over highlighter for the face. The MAC MUA lightly dusted it over my forehead, nose and chin area when i first purchased it. It gives the face a "glowy" look. Another great idea the MUA suggested is to dust it over the decolletage area or break a little off and mix it with body lotion.

I had difficulty in obtaining a good quality picture of this product swatch. I did try taking a picture with it applied but i couldn't get a photo showing you the effect of the highlighter. Above it is swatched on my hand. The photo does not do it justice!

However i do have some photos of me with it applied in the past.....

I hope that you can see some sort of effect on the cheeks!

I have more MAC MSF highlighters. I have the ever so popular and hyped (it's like the Naked Palette of cheek products) Stereo Rose & By Candlelight- unfortunately these were both limited edition.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish is available from MAC Cosmetics for $46AU

  1. It looks. A M A Z I N G!!!! I had a bad experience at MAC a few years ago, the girl at the counter did a TERRIBLE job on my makeup, matching a WAY too dark foundation and since then I haven't returned. Maybe I need to pay MAC a visit again...

  2. That looks gorgeous, I love the beautiful sheen it gives your cheeks. Love it. I have a pinky toned mac mineralize powder but I don't think it suits me as my skin's olive/yellow, that one you have is amazing. Lilit xoxo

  3. Mez-definitely head back to MAC. I have also had some dodgy MUA's too! but most of them are competent.
Lilit- You should try this one! i think the shade would be suitable for all skin tones/shades

  9. Soft and Gentle looks gorgeous on you! I always assumed it was just OTT for me after a swatch on the back of my hand. Though now I guess it looks way better when applied. Thanks for the review!
